Many residents have seen the Careem bike hubs cropping up around town, with the  signature green units being spotted in JLT, Marina, The Greens and beyond.

The bikes will soon be operational around town, but there's been a bit of confusion on how it all works.

According to Careem, there will be 800 bikes, located at 80 docking stations in the first two years. It's expected to grow to 3,500 bikes, located at 350 docking stations in the next 5 years.

Bikes are located in:

  • Dubai Marina
  • Jumeirah Lake Towers
  • Al Barsha
  • The Greens
  • Internet City
  • Media City
  • Palm Jumeirah
  • Deira
  • Downtown Dubai
  • Jumeirah Beach Road
  • Dubai Canal
  • Karama
  • Mankhool
  • Al Qusais
  • Al Khawaneej

How to use the bikes:

First, you gotta download the Careem Bike app onto your phone. Then you'll need to set up an account and choose a membership plan. It's all available via the app.

How much it costs:

According to Careem, there are four membership options to choose from:

  • 1 year at Dhs399
  • 1 month at Dhs69
  • 1 week at Dhs45
  • 1 day at Dhs20
  • An overtime fee of Dhs20 applies after 60 minutes.

The bikes can be ridden around Dubai streets, bikeways and laneways that are safe to do so. Wearing a helmet is not essential, but highly recommended for safety reasons.
