Burj Khalifa Base Jump Sets New Guinness World Record for Dubai!

Two daredevils have entered Dubai into the Guinness Book of World Records again by plunging off the top of the Burj Khalifa!

Skydive Dubai sponsored Soul Flyers World Champions Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet leaped from the 828m tower on Monday 22 April, exhibiting astonishing base jumping skills to claim the new Guinness World Record Title of the Highest Base Jump from the Tallest Building.

“This was the jump of a lifetime and an achievement of three years of hard training,” said Fred. “I am glad we landed successfully, accomplishing a lifelong dream.”

Vince added: “This was my best jump by far. It was a dream come true.”

The feat was made possible by 3m platform suspended from the tower’s pinnacle. Installing the structure took three days and was a tough task in itself.

Fred and Vince underwent intensive training beforehand, base-jumping off Switzerland’s Lauterbeunnen Mountain, which is almost as tall as Burj Khalifa. On their return to the UAE, the pair kept up their tough fitness regime, base jumping out of helicopters in Dubai to ensure they were ready for the leap off of the world’s tallest building.
