Yalumba has a reputation for being a rowdy party brunch, and it certainly lives up to its reputation. Each table is littered with streamers and an assortment of party hats, adding to the party vibe. Besides the hen parties and endless verses of ‘Happy Birthday’, it is worth noting the cuisine.
Diners are given the choice of buffet and à la carte options. As would be expected, the à la carte options are the better choice if you’re there primarily for good food, as well as quaffing unlimited bubbly. Start with the delicious eggs Benedict from the à la carte menu, served with salmon on brioche, or the traditional English fried breakfast with all the usual trimmings, including black pudding! Then head to the buffet for some appetisers – the seafood is incredibly fresh, the highlight being oysters served on a bed of ice.
For mains there is a selection of international dishes on the buffet, including Indian and Chinese, or roast dinner. But the best are on the menu. We recommend the salmon with creamy mashed potato – incredibly light and so soft it melts in your mouth. For dessert we recommend going up to get your own rather than ordering off the menu as the mini cheesecakes and freshly made crêpes are divine.
The volume of music is increased throughout the brunch as guests get louder, and by the end partiers abandon their tables to dance along to the booming Eighties and Nineties hits. All in all this is a great brunch for a celebration – just be sure to leave the kids at home!
