The Talk Resturant & Lounge is advertised as the ‘Talk of The Walk’ so we were intrigued to check out the Jazz & Bubbles Friday Brunch. This family brunch has a big focus on eating rather than drinking and is popular with hotel guests and JBR residents. Seating is indoors, which will be great in the upcoming hot months; and since the restaurant is next to the hotel’s pool terrace, be prepared for some envious looks from non-brunchers lounging in the sun!
On offer is a selection of international cuisine. There is a huge array of cold appetizers, Arabic mezze, sushi and breads, plus a seafood station serving lobster, mussels and freshly prepared crayfish, where the chef will demonstrate how to get the meat from the shell.
In regards to hot food, there is a Mexican station where a chef makes chicken fajitas to order; an Indian station serving flavoursome curries; an Italian station preparing tailor-made pastas; and a roast dinner area offering chicken, beef, lamb, roasted veggies and the biggest Yorkshire puddings you’ll see outside of the UK!
Outside by the pool is the seafood barbeque of prawns, crab (watch out – they move!), plus lamb kebabs for non-seafood lovers. For dessert there is a huge display of ice cream, a chocolate fountain and a cheese room. If you have a sweet tooth make sure you try the mouthwatering chocolate fondant served in ceramic pots and complemented best with ice cream. If you want to try something really special, get a scoop of vanilla ice cream and mix in a few drops of the restaurant’s 22-year-old balsamic vinegar (a top tip from the head chef).
