Can’t decide what to have for brunch? Then head to the Friday brunch at Ibn Battuta Gate, where you don’t have to decide. The hotel’s five signature restaurants (Sicilia, Shanghai Chic, Mistral, Moroc Bar and Chor Bazaar) prepare their best dishes at live cooking stations in a chic gourmet marketplace. Want Italian fare where you can watch your mozzarella being made seconds before you consume it, and your pizza crust tossed by your table? They’ve got it. Or how about a huge room devoted to meat and pork products where you can cut huge slices of foie gras and fill your plate with Parma ham. That’s there too, along with Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Indian and every other kind of cuisine you’re looking for.
A recently redesigned brunch, the food event now takes up most of the ground floor of the hotel, which has super-high ceilings and luxurious Arabic décor. There’s even a petting zoo for the kids. The mouth-watering dessert room is not to be missed. We went back three times and the pastry chef promised us we weren’t alone. He’s had requests for a dessert-only brunch with tables set up in the room!
