Brunch Review: Back To Business Brunch, McGettigan's JLT
If brunch never feels long enough, McGettigan’s JLT’s brunch is going to make you one very happy leprechaun. The much-loved Irish hangout has created a brunch packed with five hours of fun.
We arrive just after midday and enter an already bustling McGettigan’s in JLT. We’ve skipped breakfast in preparation for the food-fest and it’s a good thing we did. The buffet is centred on homely roasts with juicy carvery meats, huge Yorkshire puddings and every type of veggie you can imagine. Even the gravy tastes like something your mum has whipped up. After sampling roast beef with cauliflower cheese and crispy goose-fat potatoes we let our tummies settle before ordering from the menu to our table. Brekkies, burgers and main dishes such as lasagne are all on offer, as well as the buffet. A couple of poached eggs arrive on an avocado-topped toasted muffin, a yummy little snack to tide us over for another, oh, hour or so.
At around 4.30pm we head back to the buffet for our final sitting, this time choosing from the salad bar and adding a fresh bread roll for good measure. Drinks on offer throughout the day include house beverages, hops and grape. There is folk music and pop and, as the day goes on, the vibe turns into that of a party bar. It’s a great place to visit for fun times and lots of comfort food before a big night out OUT.
