Flagged as Dubai’s only revolving restaurant, Al Dawaar offers unparalleled 360-degree views of Deira, the creek, Dubai’s corniche and the sea beyond. As well as providing endless scenic entertainment, the revolving floor provides laughs aplenty as you lose your way back from the central bathrooms – it’s an instant ice-breaker when you absentmindedly pop your drink on the window ledge only to see it circulate to the next table before you can say, “Sorry, I forgot again…”
Visiting Al Dawaar offers a feeling akin to that of being on a boat, without the risk of choppy seas or seasickness, and with the guarantee of breathtaking views on clear days.

Unlike many restaurants with a gimmick, this place doesn’t rely on its USP to draw in the crowds – value for money, polite staff and top-notch food lie at the core of its appeal. Fresh oysters with vinaigrette, juicy prawns, glistening sashimi and sushi, Arabic mezze and well-constructed salads serve as starters. When Ahlan! visited there was even palm heart salad, which is known in its native Mauritius as “millionaire’s salad”, since an entire palm tree is felled to create the dish from just the foot or so of flesh at the heart of the trunk.

Mains come in the form of lobster casserole, tandoori chicken, whole baked hammour and roast rib of beef, to name but a few. For dessert, there’s an equally tempting array of dishes on offer, from walnut cinnamon coffee cake, to big dishes of crème brûlée and slabs of cream-laden Black Forest gâteau – a dish far too divine to languish in the Seventies.

Ultimately, Al Dawaar is the crowning glory of the Hyatt Regency Dubai and it will put you in a spin in more ways than one.
