Britney Spears has checked into a mental health facility for 30 days, and it's reportedly down to feeling 'devastated' over her father Jamie Spears' health battle.
Last week, 37-year-old Britney posted a quote on her Instagram page that read: “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit”. She captioned it: “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time’”, followed by a smiley face. She posted this as news reports surrounding her wellbeing surfaced.
In January the star announced a hiatus from music - including halting her Las Vegas residency - and detailed on Instagram how her dad had been 'hospitalised and almost died.'
She added: "We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand."
It's no secret Britney is extremely close to her father, who has supported her during her rollercoaster experience with fame. Jamie has had two surgeries to correct issues with his intestines and colon.
A source told People magazine: "There's nothing dramatic going on with her - she just realised she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself."
Britney's significant other Sam Asghari has also addressed the news of Britney's mental health facility check-in, saying on Instagram: "It isn’t weakness, It’s a sign of absolute strength, people should only be inspired by this, at least I am #stronger".
