British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his longtime girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, are engaged and expecting their first child together.
The announcement was made on Saturday, February 29, via the PR executive's private Instagram post, and the first time mother, 31, will be due for delivery in the early summer.
Alongside a photo of herself smiling while Johnson planted a kiss on her cheek, she wrote, "Many of you already know but for my friends that still don't, we got engaged at the end of last year... and we've got a baby hatching early summer. Feel incredibly blessed." The couple's relationship began over a year ago and this will be the Prime Minister's fifth confirmed child, since his separation from estranged wide Marina Wheeler.
hey are the first unmarried couple to move into Downing Street and so it has been suggested that Ms Carrie is not a "fully-fledged" first-lady until they get married. Johnson will become the first British prime minister to marry while in office in 250 years, while their baby will be the first born to an incumbent leader since the August, 2010 arrival of David and Samantha Cameron's daughter, Florence Rose Endellion. Multiple MPs and other former government officials have congratulated the couple on their news and continue to wish them well.
