The pan-seared scallops are the perfect starter. A generous serving of four individual molluscs are teamed sublimely with cauliflower purée, capsicum couscous and a genius Brussels sprout hash.

Bread is served in the right amount. To stop guests from filling up on the baked stuff, one small ball of soda bread is given to each diner, but you can, of course, ask for more.

Not in the mood for meat? There’s a large selection of surf items to choose from, such as Scottish salmon, grilled hammour, and a whole Boston lobster.

Their vegetables are locally produced. The juicy tomatoes and crunchy asparagus are grown by one UAE farmer exclusively for this restaurant.

Don’t be fooled by the words ‘side dish’. The waiters will warn you that one side is enough for two people – and they aren’t kidding. We made the mistake of ordering a few and were too stuffed to eat them.

The menu is always changing. Every month BOA creates a special menu that runs alongside their traditional à la carte options, so keep an eye out for that.
