Blake - The New Carrie?
Critically, it was a car crash. Commercially, it was a box office mega-hit. But despite the scathing reviews that blighted the original flick’s follow up, rumours are rife that Sex and the City will return to the big screen - albeit with a far less airbrushed cast.
Hollywood insiders claim gorgeous Gossip Girl star Blake Lively is the front runner to play a young Carrie Bradshaw in the prequel to the Sex and The City movies, after SATC producer Michael Patrick King reportedly gave the go-ahead on the project.
Based upon Candace Bushnell’s bestselling book The Carrie Diaries, which charts Carrie’s rollercoaster relocation from Conneticut to New York in her early 20s, negotiations are said to be already underway with all of the major characters. ‘The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie’s first few months in NYC, and the beginning of her relationship with an older man,’ spilled a source. ‘There are girls in Hollywood going absolutely nuts trying to get cast for this movie - it’s going to be a total fashion blast!’
And while 23- year-old Blake has rubbished reports she’s nailed the coveted role made legendary by SJP, industry moles claim the bubbly blonde actress has already agreed to step into Carrie’s designer shoes. ‘Patrick was convinced Blake was the only girl for the job’ said an insider. ‘Sarah Jessica Parker loves Blake’s style, and so does Patrick. He literally wouldn’t take no for an answer’
With no official word on who’ll be joining Blake in her young Carrie capers, we’re keeping everything crossed the lovely Leighton Meester is next in line for a call from SATC film bosses - could you think of a more perfect young Charlotte York if you tried? Nor us. XOXO!
