Billy Eichner is campaigning for the role of Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid
It has been a whirlwind of a week for both The Little Mermaid and Harry Styles fans with back-and-forth reports that the singer will be stepping into the role of Prince Eric for the live action remake. Ultimately Harry reportedly passed on the role but you need not worry as funnyman Billie Eichner stood up to take the role of the romantic lead.
Eichner threw his net in the sea just hours after the news after the casting role broke. “I’m ready”, he tweeted jokingly along with an article from the Variety that addressed the news of the former One Direction singer turning down the part.
Though we may not know Billy as the a pop-star gracing us with his voice, he does have experience in yelling at strangers on the street with A-List celebrities and that has to count for something right?
While we all wait for the official Prince Eric casting, the live action of the classic under-the-sea Disney film already promises us with an incredible cast with Halle Bailey confirmed as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy reportedly cast as the evil sea witch Ursula. Also in the talks to join the cast are Awkwafina as Scuttle the seagull, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Javier Bardem as King Triton.
