If Beck is harbouring any displeasure at Kanye West trying to steal his thunder at the Grammys, he's hiding it very well. The veteran musician beat out Beyonce for Album of the Year on Sunday, and as he took to the stage to receive his award from Prince, West made his way up there too, in a recreation of his protest at Taylor Swift in 2009.
Afterwards, West claimed that he wasn't joking. "I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us," he told E! "We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyonce."
Beck's response was nothing but class: "I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody," he said when asked how he felt about West crashing the stage. "How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?"
As for whether Beyonce should have won, Beck was adamant. "Absolutely, I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyonce!"
