Q. I would like to try something new with my mid-length straight brown hair, but I’m not sure what. What are the hottest looks right now that could work best for me? Abbie, Doha
A. There’s nothing better than turning heads with a fresh new cut or colour. If you’re feeling really adventurous, change both!
Hair styles for spring 2014 have a lot of casual chic texture, which can be in the form of laidback mermaid waves, romantically rumpled old world braids and cuts with a lot of movement manipulated to look a bit messy with a hint of hair product. You could also try delightfully mussed chignons and elaborate pony tails complimented by twists as well as a bit of hair out of place. The idea is to look like you made a haphazard effort, and that you tried, but not too hard.
One of my favourite looks from the S/S 2014 catwalks is the Frida Kahlo inspired crowns. Recreate the look by piling braids up in a regal, but messy crown from ear to ear like we saw on the Nicole Miller catwalk.
