Beaches and parks to close in Dubai due to residents failing to distance themselves

22 Mar 2020

The beaches were full on Friday

Beaches - both public and private, as well as parks, swimming pools, movie theatres, sports halls and lounges are all to be closed from today (Sunday) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority announced the decision, following the beaches being inundanted with residents on Friday.

Beaches were open to the public previously, with signage stating that beachgoers must remain 2m apart.

Food and beverage facilities will also be regulated - but allowed to remain open for now - and must comply with an 80% reduction in seating. A physical distance of 2m between customers is mandated.
