Last year was very special as I moved into my new space at Dubai Design District, after eight years being based in Jumeirah and now I’ve both my manufacturing and atelier in the same place. In addition to my Ayesha Depala prêt-à-porter bridal collection and a couture line, I’m working on an Indian line and hand-made jewellery collection.
My brand also went into Harvey Nicholas in August and we’re now in talks with two other stores in The Dubai Mall to collaborate with this year about stocking my lines.
My spring summer line for 2017 has been my favourite prêt-à-porter assemblage to date and it’s been very well received with orders being made from our atelier in D3. I’ve had to expand the team and work longer hours to accommodate demand.
A good piece of advice which I’ve applied to my business is: doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will!
Dubai is one of my favourite cities in the world as it’s a stirring alchemy of optimism and opportunity, it’s also a fun-filled bustling microcosm of diverse cultures and nationalities and a relevant destination for the seasoned traveller.
