Elizabeth Olsen had one of the worst auditions of her life when she went for the role of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of thrones.

The Avengers star revealed that back when she first began her career in Hollywood, she put herself forward for any project in an effort to get her name out there. "When I first started working, I just auditioned for everything, because I like auditioning," Olsen told Vulture.

However, her audition for the role, which is played by Emilia Clarke, didn't go as well as she'd hoped. "It was the most awkward audition I'd ever had," she confessed. Olsen explained she used Daenerys' monologue from George R. R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire, when she walks out of a fire unscathed and with three hatched dragons.

"And she's making this speech to thousands of people about how she's their queen," the 30-year-old shared. "They didn't know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both. It was terrible. Anytime someone says, 'Bad audition story.' That's one I remember."

While her audition may not have worked out, Olsen revealed she does have a clear favourite on the HBO show – Kit Harington's Jon Snow. "I'm just so deep in Game of Thrones that all I can think about is Kit Harington," Olsen confessed. "I mean, he's just brainwashed me."
