Australia Day in the UAE
It's Ocker Central at BOUNCE on Australia Day

If you’re looking to rage hard for the Motherland, or just want an excuse to hit up a BBQ, it’s your lucky week; Australia Day is looming, the grills are being fired up, and there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate. Here’s just a few of the events that have caught our eye so far…

It goes without saying that jones the grocer - the UAE’s very own Australian food emporium - will be pushing the boat right out on Australia Day. In fact, they can’t even hold the celebrations to a mere 24 hours, with a special themed menu until Sun Feb 1. But if you’re hankering for a bit of barbie action, the flagship store at Al Manara in Dubai will be hosting an Antipodean BBQ. It’s first-come, first serve, with dukkah marinated prawn skewers, Aussie sausage sizzle with truffle aioli and caramelised onions and grilled rib-eye minute steak. Sides will include a choice of delicious pumpkin and feta salad, traditional corn on the cob and a jacket potato with chives and sour cream along with a selection of condiments. Ripper. INFO: 3pm-6pm, Sat 24 Jan,

If you can’t wait until next Monday, ubk will be starting the proceedings 48 hours early with a mouth-watering BBQ. Bangers and mash, chips, succulent beefburgers, juicy briskets, char-grilled vegetables, salads, warm breads, house-made sauces and much more will be waiting for you to have a fair go at. True Aussie patriots can boast their love for the Motherland by having the Australian flag painted on their face. If you're hankering for some Advanced Australia Fare, Yalumba are holding their Australia Day celebrations back a few days for Fri 30 Jan, which means you can keep the celebrations going all week. But if you wallaby startin’ somethin’ on the actual day itself, BOUNCE – Dubai’s very own urban playground – is turning itself into a boingy Aussie paradise, complete with Antipodean anthems, a ripper-bash party atmosphere, blow-up beach balls and crazy crocs thrown amongst the action on the trampolines.
