Art Gallery for Dubai's Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates
A new art gallery aimed at promoting emerging creative talent from across the Middle East is to open at Mall of the Emirates. Named Fann-À-Porter Art Gallery – ‘fann’ is the Arabic word for art, while ‘porter’ means ‘to carry’ in French – it will have a busy year-round calendar, hosting work by an eclectic range of young and talented artists from all over the world.
Its first exhibition will be Chanting on Earth, by award-winning Jordanian potter Hazem Al Zubai. Opening next Monday, it explores the way humans have used clay to communicate for thousands of years, fashioning it into tablets upon which letters and poetry could be inscribed.
As well as temporary exhibitions, the gallery will also host a permanent display of artworks from emerging Emirati artists, in tribute to the UAE. It's a partnership between Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates and Vindemia Gallery, an art and antiques gallery shop. Based at Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai Marina, Vindemia sells furniture, porcelain, jewellery and more dating from as far back as the 18th century.
Ghada Kunash, General Manager at both Fann-À-Porter and Vindemia Gallery, said: “It is with great joy and enthusiasm that we celebrate our return to Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates and renew our collaboration and partnership that started back in 2009. Our new art gallery, Fann-À-Porter, opens its doors for young artists and art lovers, and for those who seek uniqueness.”
Konstantin Zeuke, General Manager at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, said: “We are really excited to work with Fann-À-Porter and to provide an artistic immersion for our guests. At Kempinski, we believe in supporting and promoting art, especially with our global initiative the Young Artist Program, which helps young talented artists to get cross-cultural experience and education. We are looking forward to having new artists and exhibitions at the hotel all year long.”
