We Can Be Heroes
Dubai-based photographer Martin Beck has produced a series of gritty, witty portraits in his latest project, We Can Be Heroes.

His subject matter are those who feel they didn’t quite make it at superhero school and are, like most of us, just getting on with their day-to-day chores, trying to live a happy lives and provide for their loved ones – in short, real people. Some muses you may recognise, such as Dubai One presenters Omar and Dina Butti, pictured here with a pregnant Dina playing Batwoman – rather than sidekick Robin – to Omar’s Batman.

The morale of this photo story? “When we think of superheroes, we think of perfect bodies and beautiful faces, achieving unbelievable feats,” explains Martin, “but despite our flaws and failures, each of us, in our own way, can be heroes to our family, our friends and our colleagues. We all have the potential to help others.”
