finally happened – after being
together for seven years and raising six children, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
are officially engaged! Brad's manager Cynthia Pett-Dante confirmed the news,
saying, "It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy." She added, "There's no date set at this time."
The couple had been hinting for a
while now that they would make their union official for their six kids – Maddox
(10), Pax (8), Zahara, (7), Shiloh, (5), and Knox and Vivienne (3). Brad had
confessed in an interview to CBS in January this year, "We're getting a lot of
pressure from the kids. ... It means something to them and they're, you know,
they have questions when their friends' parents are married and why is that?
... We will someday. We will. ... [But the kids say], 'Get mommy a ring!' Okay,
I will, I will."
And now he has! When they do get hitched, it will be the second marriage for Brad
(48), who was married to Jennifer Aniston (from 2000 to 2005), and the third
for Angelina (36), who was earlier married to Jonny Lee Miller (from 1996 to 1999) and Billy
Bob Thornton (from
2000 to 2003).
buzz that T’town’s golden couple had gotten engaged started soon after Ange showed
off a new sparkler on her ring finger during a trip to the Los Angeles County
Museum of Art's Chinese Galleries with Brad and their adopted son Pax on 11 April.
Hours later, a representative for jewellery designer Robert Procop, who created
the Style of Jolie collection with the Oscar winner, confirmed that he had collaborated
with the actor on the engagement ring.
statement from Procop's rep read: "Working closely with Brad Pitt to
realise the star's vision for the ring, Robert Procop was able to source a
diamond of the finest quality which was then transformed using Pitt's unique
designs, cut with distinctive faceting to a shape and size that perfectly suits
Angelina's long, slender fingers.
Brad Pitt remained heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative
design process from the perfect cut of the diamond centerpiece - an elongated
tablet shape - to the finishing touches such as the mounting of a galaxy of
smaller stones which are graduated in size and faceted to match, adding a
crowning lustre to the ring.
"The full creative
journey - from conception to completion - took a year, with Brad Pitt waiting
until the perfect moment to unveil this special jewel to Angelina Jolie."
We can’t wait for the next
special moment – the Brangelina wedding! Watch this space for updates!
