Well isn't this exciting! British television presenter and model Alexa Chung has just announced that she’ll be launching her own namesake fashion label and we’re pretty sure it will be one for the books! Following in the footsteps of her successful collaborations with the likes of AG Jeans, Madewell, Marks & Spencer, Superga and Eyeko, the 32-year-old will take the role of Creative Director at Alexachung, a contemporary-priced ready-to-wear line that will hit retailers in May 2017.
“I feel as though I’m kind of prepared to do it now,” she told The Business of Fashion. “If it had been any time sooner than this, I either wouldn’t be responsible enough or have been able to take on this kind of feat,”
“I just wanted the freedom to sort of make my own world, without someone else’s brand’s brief to stick to," said Chung. "That was so fun, but there are certain boundaries that come with doing something on behalf of someone else, [you] kind of have to keep within their design remit.”
Chung's first collection will be sold at online and Matchesfashion.com and MyTheresa, as well as via a dedicated e-commerce platform. We can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve, so watch this space!
