Ajman Launches Anti-Begging Hotline

The emirate asks residents to report begging to authorities

Ajman residents, keep an eye out! The Department of Criminal Investigation in Ajman has just launched a new anti-begging hotline.

The campaign was launched on 21 June, advising residents to call the hotline and report any cases of begging.

Department Director Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Said Al Matroushi said that beggers “take advantage of Ramadan and go to mosques and markets, banks and residential areas to ask people for money.”

In 2013, the police reported 107 beggars. This year, the emirate wants residents to more actively participate in community protection.

Abu Dhabi has also launched a Ramadan campaign titled Your Safety in which they advise residents against bad behavior during the Holy Month, including begging.
