Paris was our fave fashion week – it’s always the most exclusive, with even A-listers having to fight for their places on the frows. From Hermès’ jungle prints to Givenchy’s pale ‘n’ interesting, there was never a dull fashion moment. Plus we got to see the world’s biggest fashion show, featuring street stylistas, including 10 UAE residents flown out by Galeries Lafayette Dubai.
Kanye West was checking out the design competition in Paris, but he didn’t show his collection this season, as he did last year. He has said being famous means it’s hard to be taken seriously as a designer. We can’t help but wonder if this is the end of his fashion career?
Orange was the colour of the week in New York, midriffs were proudly on display and floral prints in pale tones elegantly floated down the catwalks on a regular basis. Accessories were surprising; shoes were flat, and even the baseball cap made an appearance! Frows were filled with A-listers, including Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde and Natalie Portman (we sooo prefer her as a brunette!).
Victoria Beckham had her hands full preparing for her New York show with baby Harper in tow, but the mum-of-four powered through and has rapidly become the queen of NYC as her collection triumphed!
Fashionistas flocked to LFW with Kate Moss and Alexa Chung popping up everywhere. Despite the grey London skies there were plenty of exciting trends on the catwalk to keep us entertained. From the muted tones at Nicole Farhi and Margaret Howell, to the more in-your-face Nineties prints at House of Holland and Topshop, there was more than enough to OMG over!
There were surprises on and off the catwalk in Milan. Big brands Gucci and Prada both took risks with a change in direction, but onlookers seemed to be taken by their Far East-inspired creations. Plus, Liz Hurley opted for modest knee-length Roberto Cavalli with no cleavage on show – shocker!
Gossip’s Beth Ditto performed during the Versus show in Milan. Designed by Donatella Versace and Christopher Kane, Versus is the “rock’n’roll soul of Versace”. Donatella spilled, “I’m a huge fan of Beth’s voice.” Us too.
