You’re the second highest goal-scorer to-date in the UK’s Premier League; you have swept the board with all possible honors including PFA Young Player of the Year, Champions League Title and caps for your country? Speaking from experience what would you say it takes to become a professional footballer of the highest level?
We all work really hard. We all need that little bit of luck to help you get to where you need to get to and that’s not just in football, that’s in life. In my career it propelled me forward to get me to where I wanted. It also takes a lot of sacrificing, passion, perseverance and dedication to get to the next level. You see a lot of mates not quite making it and it’s hard.
As a successful professional footballer, how would you score the perfect goal on the football pitch?
How would I score it? I don’t know, because I’m not sure what makes the ‘perfect’ goal? A bend it like Beckham is always good! But I suppose the perfect goal every footballer likes to score is left foot, right foot and then a header!
