A Chat With Former Miss Russia Victoria Lopyreva Ahead of Matreshka Festival in Dubai
For the first time ever in Dubai, the Matreshka Festival at Wafi Mall will be hosting a celebration of Russian fashion, culture, art, music and sport. This unique Russian extravaganza will take place from 16 October to 19 November at Wafi, introducing the UAE to the rich history and modern culture of country in northern Eurasia. The Matreshka Festival brand ambassador, former Miss Russia and actress Victoria Lopyreva, talks to Ahlan! ahead of the festival about her home country and her love for Dubai.
After visiting Dubai and the Ahlan! Hot 100 Party earlier this year, you are jetting back as the host for the first ever Matreshka Festival, are you excited to revisit the Emirate?
I am travelling very often and discovering new places for myself on the world map. But of course, there are places I am always happy to be back to, one of my favourites is the UAE!
What do you love most about Dubai?
I really like the unique combination of Arabian traditions and different cultures of the world. Dubai is cosmopolitan in the best meaning of the word. People with different backgrounds can all find something for themselves. This city is rapidly improving, impressing and surprising with its architecture, lifestyle and luxury.
Tell us a bit about what is going on in Victoria Lopyreva’s world right now!
There are two important things in my life - work and family. A woman is happy when both are matching in harmony and not disturbing each other. Besides my job that involves a lot of TV and magazine engagements, as the founder and president of the charity fund "Erasing the Borders", I am taking part in many charity events. I am also hosting cultural events in different countries and taking part in fashion weeks. Also I have been busy with the grand opening of my own restaurant in Moscow a month ago. But as usual, I always find time for travelling - can't live without it!
As the former Miss Russia, how important is the Russian culture to you?
I am sure, that physical beauty does not mean anything without inner beauty. And inner beauty is impossible to have without being part of the cultural and historical heritage of your country and humanity in general.
How do you like the Russian fashion being showcased at the Matreshka Festival in Dubai as a professional?
Russian fashion does not have such rich history as the French one for example. However there are such great talents in Russia and the collections are amazing, there is big potential and I sincerely hope that Russian designers showcasing at the Matreshka Festival, some of them being famous already, will make us proud with their art.
Why is it a must to visit the Matreshka Festival to explore Russian art, music, fashion and more?
The Matreshka Festival in Dubai is the first of its kind in the region and I am sure it is going to be a huge success. I know the talent that is being brought to Wafi for these exciting five weeks and they are the best of the best in Russia, I can't say enough how much people will enjoy the Matreshka Festival if they come and visit during the five week extravaganza. I am sure if they visit once, they will come again. Russia is a very international country with interesting history and a rich culture. I think, the key factor is to know more about it. Come, see, listen and ask questions - we are open for you!
The festival is jam-packed with loads of exciting events so get ready for a busy month. For five weeks, there will be a series of activities and fun things to look forward to! Fashion week will be running from 16 to 22 October, sports week from 23 to 29 October, ballet week from 30 October to 5 November, art week from 6 to 12 November and music week from 13 to 19 November.
Enjoy a whole month filled with special performances, celebrity appearances, master classes, activities for everyone and Matreshka dolls hand carved and painted for this special occasion. You might even find a doll to give to a friend or a family member as a present!!
