The future of Dubai is coming to life with the development of Dubai Parks and Resorts. The massive entertainment project, which is set to open doors in 2016, is underway and will become a huge leisure destination in the Emirate. The project, launched under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is in the midst of being built in Jebel Ali.

The first phase of Dubai Parks & Resorts will feature three theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and Legoland Dubai. The development will also feature Riverpark – a grand entrance plaza and Lapita, a family themed hotel. The first phase is scheduled for completion in 2016.

Want to know more? Then read on for the details on the parks, the size and the fun factors.

The Riverpark boardwalk

Riverpark

The grand entrance, Riverpark, will serve as the connection to all three theme parks. This innovative concept will be the 120,000 sq meter centre of the overall project, providing visitors with retail outlets, casual dining options and indoor, as well as outdoor entertainment offerings.
The one kilometer canal running through the middle will be lined with café outlets and water taxis will be available to transport you to where you need to go. A pathway will be built, to serve as a special arena for community events, street entertainment and other special outdoor activities.
Riverpark will be a chilled meeting point where visitors can go to unwind and relax after a busy day of visiting all the other attractions across the resort.

The Motiongate entrance

Motiongate Dreamworks Animation

Fans of the Dreamworks movies will love this Hollywood inspired theme park. With 12 incredible attractions and new generation rides, the Motiongate theme park is sure to become one of the most popular places across the destination.
The theme park will host four different zones with individual attractions, vibrant retail, dining and entertainment over a whopping four million square feet. The theme park will offer visitors the chance to have a close interaction with the Dreamworks characters in a fabulously fun way.

Dragon ride in Legoland

Legoland

Legoland, one of Europe's most popular theme parks is coming to Dubai, a first in the Middle East! It will cover over three million square feet and feature 15,000 Lego model structures made from more than 60 million Lego bricks. Legoland will include over 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions, including some of the favourites: Lego City, Adventure, Lego Kingdom, Create, Lego Factor and the popular Miniland, so it will be fun for the whole family to get involved in.

Dubbed as the first theme park in the world dedicated to Indian Film Industry, Bollywood Parks is going to be a unique location for fans from across the world to celebrate the biggest names of Indian cinema. And to complete the whole experience, Lapita Hotel, a family themed hotel could be a weekend getaway spot for visitors.

The overall development is a major entertainment addition for Dubai's residents and surely yet another major attraction to support Dubai's ever growing tourism. We don't know about you but we're counting down the days until Dubai Parks and Resorts is up and running!
