From runway to Rio, the Victoria's Secret model had the honour of lighting the Olympic Torch

Adriana Lima, also known for being a Brazilian bombshell that walks runways for Victoria's Secret, was chosen to light the Olympic Torch in Praca Maua, Brazil, yesterday.

The supermodel couldn’t hold back her tears as she took part in the ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. She later tweeted: “Grateful to experience this incredible honour and dream to carry the #Rio2016 Olympic torch in my home country Brazil.” The flame was used to open the 2016 Rio Olympics at the Maracana Stadium.

It was rumoured that football legend Pele was meant to light the torch, but the 75-year-old released a statement explaining that he was too sick to attend the show.

It’s sad that Pele couldn’t attend, but at least they got a good replacement!

Who else could light that torch like she’s modelling for a high-fash mag at the same time? Only Lima!
