Adele's Taking a Break
As Adele just dominated the Grammys with six big wins, you’d think she’d be sprinting towards the recording studio to keep the momentum going. But no! Adele is ready to take a break from making music all in the name of love. Aww.
The Rolling in the Deep singer told US Vogue that instead of immediately laying down a new album or going on tour she’s going to “f*** off for four or five years.” Well that’s putting it bluntly! Going into detail, she said, "If I am constantly working, my relationships fail. So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record and be in love and be happy ... I won't come out with new music until it's better than 21."
Nothing can inspire quite like love! Luckily for Adele she’s got plenty of that from her beau Simon Konecki. “He’s wonderful,” Adele said about the 37-year-old, currently CEO of water charity Drop4Drop. Swooning, she added, “And he's proud of me, but he [doesn't] care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don't think I would have gotten through the recovery for my [vocal cord] surgery if it hadn't been for him."
Sounds pretty serious to us! Do we hear wedding bells in the near future? Adele did describe herself to the mag as “wifey material.” Not only can she belt out a tune but Adele said as a little domestic bliss bonus, "I am attentive. I will do anything for my man. I am a good cook. I'm funny.” Did you hear that Simon? Time to lock it down!
When Adele has gotten all that romance out of her system and returns to recording, don’t expect an album full of sappy songs about heartache and breakups. She’ll leave that to the likes of Taylor Swift. "I'm never writing a breakup record again, by the way," she said. "I'm done with being a bitter witch." Of her ex who inspired 21, she said she’s grateful for their shared experience, glad it helped her grow up and that her former guy even deserves a smidge of credit for her album’s success. How mature! Here’s to Adele’s well-deserved break and her happy tunes ahead.
