All The Highlights From Maroon 5’s Super Bowl Halftime Show
It finally happened peeps, the Super Bowl is over and, judging by the thousands of boos that emanated from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the reviews online, no one loved Maroon 5’s halftime performance.
Given the many petitions and the fact that mega-stars like Rihanna and Cardi B turned down the chance to play the show in honour of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the reaction was to be expected. Soz, Adam.
If you’re a fan of the band, here’s how the night played out…
A slow, heart-felt performance of “She Will Be Loved” followed, which was made even more special thanks to a number of fire lanterns, which spelt out “One Love”.
The band (which has more than five members – there’s eight, for all those wondering) even performed a little tribute to the late creator of Sponge Bob Square Pants – which, we have to say was pretty good. Shortly after, the ladies in the audience showed their appreciation of the Levine’s bod, as he stripped down to perform “Moves Like Jagger” (of course, he did).
The show concluded with a guitar solo, a group hug with Travis Scott and Big Boi (who also performed), and fireworks.
Pretty PG. Pretty unmemorable, unfortunately.
But if you want to watch it for yourself, check out the video below...
Noticing the lack of excitement (?), Levine took to his Instagram to address why they decided to perform the show and what the purpose of the fire lanterns were exactly.

When we accepted the responsibility to perform at the SBHTS, I took out my pen and just wrote. Some of the words that came to me in that moment eventually made their way onto the incredible lanterns that flew high and low tonight. We thank the universe for this historic opportunity to play on the world’s biggest stage. We thank our fans for making our dreams possible. And we thank our critics for always pushing us to do better. One Love. ❤️ And the list of words is... Forgive Laugh Cry Smile Share Live Endure Embrace Remember Enlighten Preserve Inspire Sweat Fight Express Give Receive Elevate Climb Unify Fortify Soften Dance Scream Dream Educate Provide Inhale Exhale Persevere Stand Kneel Overcome Love Listen
There you have it.
Oh, and for all those wondering, the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 13 to 3.
