Access All Areas: Splash's Fashion Paradise

Our party report from the year's biggest fashion event

We bet there are a few people turning up to work today still on a high from the Splash Fashion Show on Friday! To describe the event as  a mere fashion show really doesn’t do it justice – part music concert, part runway show, part carnival, part nightclub, this year’s launch transported guests to a ‘fashion paradise’, where style ruled.

Thousands of the UAE’s fashionistas descended on a huge custom-built outdoor arena at Dubai Festival City for the event, to be party the afternoon and evening away in a place that we reckon was a bit like Rio’s infamous Carnival – in Dubai!

Stilt-walkers clad in brightly coloured lycra suits and models sporting Carmen Miranda-style headwear circulated throughout the crowd, as pop and house tracks blasted from speakers. The entertainment continued with sideshow - a mechanical bull proved to be huge hit, we even witnessed a particularly stylish gal whip off her heels, hitch up her dress and have a go!

The highlight of the evening, though, was a series of fashion parades set on a huge stage adorned with a tropical-themed set – think palm trees, flamingos and huge splash’s of bold colours. Amongst the tropical rainforest sat, fittingly, gigantic handbags and shoes – just in case you forgot that the event was, in fact, all about fashion!

Models strutted down the runway to the beat of the music, stomping in chunky, printed wedge heels and transformed by carnival-esque makeup. Fun and frivolity dominated the feel of the clothes, and this theme was emphasised on the catwalk, the models almost danced their way up and down and were clearly having a blast!

Check out some of the highlights:

We had an amazing night and can’t wait to see how the Splash team try to top it at next year’s event!
