If Dubai is the UAE's central urban city, Abu Dhabi is definitely the cultural gem of the peninsula.
Though not as visited as Dubai, Abu Dhabi is the capital city that holds a cultural essence that won't be seen in any other emirate.
Recently, a popular travel fare website called Skyscanner awarded the capital city as second to the most cultured cities in the world.
The Chinese-owned website identified its top five destinations and singled out Abu Dhabi after appreciating the cultural centers, including the National Theatre and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Skyscanner also noted the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum in 2017 which was designed by Pritzker-winning French architect Jean Nouvel.
They believed this structure made the city an even stronger candidate for the cultural destinations of the world as it is the Arab world’s first universal museum.
Saif Saeed Ghobash, Under-Secretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, said: "For Abu Dhabi to have been named as one of the most cultural cities in the world reflects positively on the work the Department of Culture and Tourism.
They position the emirate at the very forefront of people’s minds when they consider their next great cultural adventure,"
Skyscanner also has a recommendation list for hotels in the emirate, including the best hotels and the best deals on flights to the UAE capital.
The online list was topped by Florence, Italy which was singled out for being ‘the birthplace of the Renaissance.'
