Abu Dhabi drivers will also have to register for the new toll gates
Abu Dhabi vehicle owners thought they were lucky enough to avoid having to register for the new toll gates in Abu Dhabi, but the Department of Transport (DoT) has announced that even vehicles owners in the capital will need to register their vehicles. Soz!
The DoT has also stated that though vehicles in Abu Dhabi will not need to add credit to their accounts (they will pay for the tolls at the time of their car renewals), they would need to create an account.
Put simply, think of your Abu Dhabi number plate as a post-paid sim card.
All vehicles registered in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi until October 15, 2019 will be enrolled into the toll gate system automatically without any fees. Users will receive a text message with details regarding their account on their mobile number registered with @ADPoliceHQ ...— "DoT" دائرة النقل (@AbuDhabiDoT) September 6, 2019
If a vehicle passes the toll without registering, the owner will have to register within five working day,s and if they don’t they will be charged Dhs100 on the first day and the price with double exponentially with each extra day, with a maximum fine of Dhs10,000.
So, Abu Dhabi vehicle owners, create your account ASAP…
