A Vision of Elvis
We’re used to the big names of music passing through our part of the world, but the biggest of all – Elvis Presley, the King of Rock himself – remains elusive, what with him not actually being around since 1977. And he never played any gigs outside North America while he was alive.
However, the next best thing – award-winning Elvis impersonator Rob Kingsley – is about to fill the Elvis-shaped hole in our hearts when he brings his massively successful tour to the UAE for the first time ever. Officially recognised as Europe’s premier Elvis tribute artist, Sheffield-born Rob also has the distinction of being the first performer to don the flared white jumpsuit and perform at the new Wembley Stadium and Hyde Park.
Rob’s act – which covers the glory years of the mid-fifties to the epochal comeback show of 1968 and the Las Vegas era – is a concentrated blast of Elvisy goodness, with costume changes ranging from the GI Blues uniform to the black leather look to the full-on rhinestone-studded white cape outfit, not to mention a barrage of some of the most popular tunes of the 20th Century. And it’s endorsed by no less a figure as Elvis’ own tour manager. Whether you’re in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, it’s an experience not to be missed; make sure you’re in the building before Elvis leaves it.
