Last week, we were invited along to Toro Toro, the newest restaurant at the grand resort of Marsa Malaz and it did not disappoint. The stand-alone villa is going to knock the socks off Doha! The set-up is really clever; there's a bar/lounge upstairs and the restaurant beneath so if you fancy going for drinks you're not disturbing diners and if you're going for a meal you're not surrounded by noise. If you know the restaurant in Dubai - you'll be amazed at how much bigger the Doha venue is and the amazing view over the water.
And the food - it's even better than in Dubai, too. Chef Richard Sandoval's personal favourite is the ceviche as well as the various cuts of beef, lamb and chicken that Toro Toro is known for. The slivers of meat were juicy, succulent and melt-in-your-mouth tender; we ate our way through the tasting menu for what seemed like hours, but didn't feel stuffed by the end of the evening. But the best news - it's open throughout Ramadan. INFO: Toro Toro, Marsa Malaz Kempinski, 4035 5101, www.kempinski.com
