Dubai residents have been evacuated after fire broke out in Jumeirah Lakes Towers' Almas Tower this afternoon, Sunday 22 April.
According to witnesses, the fire broke in the office building out around 3pm this afternoon.
Fire fighters have now put the fire out, and according to the Dubai Civil Defence no injuries were reported.
“It is a fire in a pole at the top of the tower. We received the emergency call at 2.55pm and the tower was evacuated from residents,” a Dubai Civil Defence spokesperson told a local newspaper.
Primarily an office block, Almas Tower is 68 stories high. Until it was surpassed by the Burj Khalifa in 2009, it was the tallest building in Dubai.
