555 Exhibition Launches in Old Fire Station in Doha

For the last couple of years, Qatar Museums has been renovating on the old Civil Defence Building (or Old Fire Station, as it's better known) to create an Artist's Residence, and exhibition space. Finally, it's open and the first exhibition has arrived! Iraqi artists such as Dia Azzawi, Ismail Fattah and Ismail Azzam have their work on display in the Old Fire Station.

The Artist's Residence is perfectly equipped to host the 20 artists who will be selected to join the Fire Station, as the building is home to 24 studios and a gallery space for exhibitions and community interaction. Twenty studios will be open to those artists selected to join the residency, whilst four will be reserved for visiting artists. The Fire Station premises will also feature public attractions such as a park, library, an arts and crafts shop, a cinema, a plaza, a restaurant to foster an interactive environment and engage the local community.

We look forward to seeing all the experimental art!
