5 Things to Do in the UAE This Week
5 things to do between now and the next Ahlan!

10-12 MAR
Have your Fill at Taste of Dubai
The festival for foodies is back at our favourite big-show venue, the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. Enjoy sample-sized bites from the UAE’s leading restaurants, live music from Boney M featuring Liz Mitchell, The Maplejacks, 4TheMusic, Adam Baluch, plus The Boxtones, and cooking demonstrations from acclaimed chefs, including Tom Aikens and Atul Kochhar. Tom is the man behind JBR’s Pots, Pans & Boards, and his food in the UK won him two Michelin stars when he was just 26, making him the youngest chef to nab a twinset. The charismatic Atul is the brains (and taste buds) behind Dubai’s Rang Mahal restaurant, and boasts the accolade of being the first Indian chef in Michelin’s history to hook a star. INFO: Tickets cost Dhs100 advance/Dhs125 at the door, Thu (including two drinks vouchers); Dhs75 advance/Dhs90 at the door Fri and Sat (entry only); Dhs250 advance/Dhs260 at the door for Thu-Sat VIP passes including VIP lounge access, two drinks vouchers and three food vouchers, 4pm-12midnight Thu, 12noon-12midnight Fri, 12noon-11pm Sat; for advance tickets and full listings see tasteofdubaifestival.com

Join the Abu Dhabi Color Run
Dubbed ‘The happiest 5k on the planet’, the Color Run is a kaleidoscopic fitness experience that’s enjoyed across the globe. Participants wear white and run amid a shower of multi-coloured powder made from food-grade corn starch, making for fabulous photo opportunities. The Abu Dhabi version, presented by Daman’s ActiveLife, will include a warm-up session with Les Mills’ instructors, and then a post-run party ending at 12noon. Yas Waterworld is also offering all Color Runners entry to the waterpark at a special discounted price of Dhs75 to wash off after the event. INFO: Opens 7am, first race at 8.30am, Yas Marina Circuit; tickets cost Dhs160, kids aged four and under run for free; register online and pick up your race pack at a designated location in advance, or buy at Adventure HQ stores in Yas Mall and Dalma Mall, Abu Dhabi, or Times Square, JBR and Galleria Mall, Dubai, thecolorrun.ae/abu-dhabi
Dive into a Drawing on JBR
If you fancy ‘doing a Mary Poppins’ by jumping into a picture, then get down to Dubai Canvas. Covering the 2km pedestrianised area of The Walk, you’ll find mind-bending 3D scenarios into which you can immerse yourself, from jumping off a cliff to surfing to being a jockey. INFO: Free, 4pm-10pm Mon-Thu, 10am-11pm Fri-Sat, The Walk, JBR, thewalk.ae

Say ‘Cheese!’ at Dubai’s New Fondue Night
JLT’s Nosh is offering cheese lovers a fondue experience this month. The traditional Swiss dish of warm molten cheeses beckons diners to dip, swirl and twirl their pick of crusty bread, veg and pickled cornichons into the oozing dairy oasis. Few things in life are as delicious and decadently indecent at the same time. INFO: Dhs65 per person for a fondue pot, Dhs90 including one glass of grape, Dhs30 extra charge per person for dessert buffet access; 6.30pm-10.30pm, Nosh, Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers, 04 438 0000, movenpick.com/dubai-jumeirah-lakes-towers
Check out the Buzz Around The Hive
The Hive is a new brunch at Warehouse, a venue combining two restaurants, a raw bar, grape cellar and four lounges, with one dedicated to cocktails. So-named as there’s a bottomless supply of ‘honey’ (we think they mean drinks), The Hive has lush gardens, a lavish terrace and indoor seating – we can’t wait to try it! INFO: Dhs259 per person, including house drinks, 1pm-4pm Fri, Warehouse, Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, 04 702 2455, warehouse-dubai.com
