5 Things to Do in the UAE This Week
Here's 5 things to do between now and the next Ahlan!
See Simple Minds in Dubai!
Yip, the brilliant Eighties band is still Alive and Kicking and we haven’t forgotten about them – if you’re now singing along with the chorus, then this is the night for you!
Simple Minds will perform their best-loved hits, plus material from new album Big Music, which is their 16th, down at the stadium next to Irish Village. Our photographers will be there to capture you all raising your hands in the air!

One of the poshest dates in Dubai’s annual social calendar, The Royal Salute UAE Nations Cup Polo, returns this Friday with four polo teams, featuring, among others, internationally renowned polo players Ali Albwardy, Sam Instone, Ayaad Damouni and Matias Machado. Enjoy the action while rubbing shoulders with the international jet set.

Belgian Café’s Birthday!
One of our favourite watering holes in Madinat is turning four this weekend. To celebrate, on Thursday there’ll be an extended happy hour until 9pm and ‘birthday gifts’ every hour. On Friday, guests can experience the first edition of the new SIP.SHARE.SAVOR brunch with a two-for-one offer, plus there’s the After Brunch Happy Hour on the top terrace from 4pm to 7pm. Then, on Saturday, there’ll be an all-day happy hour from 12noon to 2am. Throughout the weekend, there’ll be a five-course Belgian menu for just Dhs175. If you needed a reason to get down to the BBC, we just gave you six!

Finally the new Purobeach – Dubai’s second after the initial launch at the Conrad hotel – has opened its doors, and the weather’s perfect for it! One of its initial offerings is the Miami Grill Brunch Beach Party on Saturdays. Get down there for succulent grills, multiple cooking stations, a fresh salad bar, unlimited Sangria, grape and soft drinks. Hang out on the sunbeds around the pool and beach, or if you prefer a table, grab one on the terrace. Resident DJs will be playing soul and retro house accompanied by live saxophone performances.
