She’s a FROW regular, but Kim Kardashian was nowhere to be seen at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month, choosing to avoid the city where she was robbed at gunpoint during her last visit five months ago. It was initially rumoured that the reality star would make a return to the City of Lights with her husband, Yeezy designer Kanye West, for the first time since the violent robbery in October to attend the high-profile fashion event in the first week of March. However, a rep confirmed to People magazine that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star had “no plans” to go back to the French capital after she was targeted in a jewellery heist which saw her bound and gagged by armed gunmen in her Paris apartment.
Kim and Kanye returned to the fashion circuit for Kanye’s Yeezy Season 5 show at New York Fashion Week in February and it was thought the power couple might continue to Paris, the next stop on the fashion calendar - especially as little sister Kendall Jenner was walking for big designers including Miu Miu and Chanel. But, given that both Kim and Kanye are reportedly in therapy following the trauma from their last visit, it’s no surprise that they are in no rush to return to the scene of the crime.
Details of the robbery were revealed in a teaser for the new series of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Kim is seen breaking down in tears as she relives the moment she thought she was going to be “shot in the back” and killed. Though 17 men have since been arrested in connection with the crime, sources told US Weekly that the 36-year-old is still “scared” and has beefed up her security as a result.
While the fashion world descended on Paris, Kim was kept busy in the US filming a cameo for upcoming movie, Ocean’s Eight. Ironically, the movie’s plot is centred around a celebrity jewellery heist – and set insiders have spilled that there was a question mark over Kim’s involvement after what unfolded in Paris. In fact, movie bosses were so sure that Kim would drop out of her role as the high-profile target of a robbery that they had reportedly lined-up Zayn Malik to replace her. A source revealed: “Originally it was Kim Kardashian with the lead celebrity role. But after Paris producers didn't expect her to turn up, so the script was rewritten to accommodate other celebrities including Zayn.”
