Zoya Sakr Jabre & Rudolf Jabre
Along with her husband as founders of 2Pure epublishing, this former beauty queen has made her online mark by providing lifestyle, fashion and business news for her Arabic followers on their two latest websites.
So tell us about gheir.com and Ra2ed.com.
Zoya: These sites were launched in 2012. Gheir.com targets Arab women in general and GCC women specifically who are interested in luxury lifestyle, from fashion and beauty to travel and design.
RUDOLF: Ra2ed is a male lifestyle website that targets Arab men, offering news related to business, sports, lifestyle and more.
What was your inspiration?
RUDOLF: We saw gaps in the market for premium Arabic content. From the word go we planned to launch four sites. The first was nawa3em.com, a female lifestyle site that attracts 50,000 users a day, and we just launched the fourth, chababs.com, targeting youth.
What part of the job do you enjoy the most?
Zoya: I love interviewing inspirational people and covering the international fashion weeks – although it’s a very tough job. Meeting the likes of Valentino, Elie Saab and Jean Paul Gaultier is amazing. And sitting on the front row beside celebs like Kevin Costner is definitely fun.
You first entered the spotlight in 1995 when you were crowned Miss Model of Lebanon. So, if you had to choose: beauty or brains?
Zoya: Most definitely brains. I much more enjoy touring the world as a mature entrepreneur than as a crowned 18-year-old.
