Fame and fortune can be a dangerous combination for young and impressionable celebrities. No matter how many managers, agents and advisors flock around them, eventually the pressure of living in the limelight takes its toll, and a public meltdown becomes just a matter of time. With former hell-raisers Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus seeking redemption, a new trio of troubled celebs personify the phrase ‘too much, too young’. One Direction’s Zayn Malik, model Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner appear to be spiralling dangerously out of control – is it too late to save them from themselves?

Stressed Zayn is Over & Out
Pop star Zayn, 22, has landed back in Britain following his dramatic exit from One Direction’s world tour, sparking serious concern about his mental state. The singer was pictured looking tired and dishevelled as he walked through London’s Heathrow Airport in the early hours after arriving on a flight from Asia. Malik pulled out of a Coca-Cola commercial shoot in Hong Kong on Thursday 19 March and flew back to his native UK, with a spokesman confirming the star had left the One Direction tour and been “signed off with stress”– a reference to taking leave on doctor’s orders.
The singer’s mother, Trisha, has since spoken out to insist that her son is doing OK, telling the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ve spoken to him and he’s fine. We have been in contact.” The drama came just days after Zayn was forced to deny allegations he’d cheated on his pop-star fiancée, Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, after he was pictured partying with another woman in Thailand. Taking to his Twitter account the day the incriminating shots surfaced, he said: “I’m 22 years old. I love a girl named Perrie Edwards and there’s a lot of jealous f***s in this world. I’m sorry for what it looks like.”

The UAE Show Will Go On
The fallout has created speculation Zayn could quit the band permanently, meaning he’d miss the 1D concert in Dubai next month. A spokesman for the band told The Sun newspaper that the rest of the boys will continue without him, stating: “Zayn has signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.”
Speaking about his sudden temporary departure, a source said: “Zayn finds it tougher than the rest of his bandmates, dealing with fame. Having his every movement scrutinised causes great anxiety and the pictures that surfaced with the fan yesterday was the final straw. He did nothing wrong but the amount of criticism he received was simply too much. He needs to get away.”

Has Gigi been a Naughty Girl?
It was all going so well for Gigi Hadid. After a whirlwind few months on the catwalk scene she became the poster girl for the modelling world, attracting lucrative contracts and film roles, but that’s all on the line now, thanks to some seriously damaging rumours. Gigi, 19, has slammed editors at a gossip blog for suggesting she was caught snorting an illegal substance at a party in Miami last weekend. The blonde beauty went to the Victoria’s Secret’s Pink Spring Break bash with her boyfriend, Aussie pop star Cody Simpson, for work purposes. A 10-second clip of the pair, posted online, showed Hadid leaning over a counter, prompting a blogger at teen gossip site OceanUp.com to speculate on just what she was doing, tweeting: “Gigi Hadid snorting [illegal substances] at Victoria’s Secret in Cody Simpson Snapchat story video?!”

Hadid’s Role model pride
Once claims about the recording came to Gigi’s attention, she understandably took issue with the publication, insisting she would have been an “idiot” to take drugs, let alone in public while attending a work event. The model added: “I take pride in being a good role model, would never touch that and will not stand for or put up with a little piece of scum blog like OceanUp.com.” Gigi may be outraged by the article in question, but the damage may have already been done. According to our sources, the young cover girl has already missed out on a movie role because of the scandal, as film producers want to stay away from her until the controversy dies down. Hadid had hoped to appear in upcoming comedy sequel Zoolander 2 with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, but now Karlie Kloss has been approached for the role instead.

Defiant Kylie’s Rebellion
Kris Jenner’s attempts to keep an eye on Kylie may not be going as well as she’d hoped. Despite pleading with the 17-year-old not to leave the nest, her daughter’s splashed out on a luxe $2.7 million (Dhs9.9m) mansion – and it’s said she’s sharing it with rumoured boyfriend Tyga. The reality TV star has raised eyebrows due to her close relationship with the rapper, who’s nearly 10 years her senior and has a baby son with Kim Kardashian’s BBF, Blac Chyna. As well as dining and living rooms, the spanking-new property boasts two built-in entertainment centres, a library, five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a swimming pool with a spa.
Moving out of her mum’s house isn’t the only rebellious move Kylie’s made, as sources say she and Tyga may already be engaged! Pictures surfaced last week of the Keeping up with the Kardashians star showing off a gold and platinum diamond ring on her wedding finger. Tyga posted a snap of Kylie on Instagram recently, gushing: “Certain things catch your eye, but only few capture the heart”, so speculation they may wed may not be that far-fetched, but Kris definitely won’t be happy. Is it too late for her to save her youngest daughter?
