Pick Of The Week
Little Blue People
The Smurfs
Date: Thursday 24 January | Channel: OSN Premiere | Time: 4.30pm
The Smurfs first arrived into our world in 1958, coming from a far away place known as Fairytale Land. We all got to know and love them in our childhood, and in 2011 came this animated comedy movie starring our little blue friends. We’re looking forward to their new movie outing later this year in the aptly named sequel – The Smurfs 2 (in 3D, no less!).
If you didn’t manage to see this when it originally came out at the movies be sure to watch it on TV so you know what’s going on in Fairytale Land ahead of the new movie.
Directed by Raja Gosnell, who also directed Never Been Kissed and another childhood animated classic, Scooby-Doo, so he knows what he’s doing.
The plot might not be up to much but then these types of movies are not about a suspenseful storyline. It’s a real feel-good family comedy movie that you can sit down and watch without having to think too much.
In their race to get away from the wicked wizard Gargamel, the Smurfs find themselves transported to New York City (as you do). Stranded in a world full of life-sized big people, yellow taxis and gigantic neon lights, the Smurfs try to find a way to get back home.
