Watch out for traffic diversions in Dubai from today

Traffic alert!

It's probably a good idea to avoid Ibn Battuta this weekend, as Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will be carrying out road works in the area as part of its expansion project for Route 2020.

From midnight tonight, November 9, to the morning of November 11, traffic from the Northbound Exit on Ibn Battuta Road will be diverted, according to the RTA, reports Gulf News. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during this time to avoid being held up in traffic.
Route 2020 will see an expansion of Dubai's metro network, and will pass through Discovery Gardens, Green Community, and Dubai Investment Park up to the Expo 2020 venue.
It is expected to be completed in time for the Expo 2020 and will provide greater accessibility to the Expo site, along with added connectivity throughout Dubai.
