After being promoted to senior make-up artist for MAC cosmetics for the Middle East and India in 2004, Vimi Joshi has been busy building up a portfolio of high-profile clientele and is responsible for some of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood and Indian cinema. Her presence on the beauty scene has been so influential that, aside from being a pivotal team member and permanent fixture backstage at the international fashion shows in Paris and Milan for the last 12 years, her input on current trends also made up part of the Global Trend Report for 2013.

Although Vimi started out studying to be a doctor, she soon realised that her passions lay elsewhere, after being introduced to the world of celebrity through two friends who were both involved in the styling and casting of music videos back in the mid-Nineties. After spending hours on set, Vimi became fascinated with the transformations the stars achieved through make-up, and decided to pursue her new vocation.

Following her debut on the beauty scene as a professional, the beauty doyenne swiftly moved up the ranks, working backstage at the unveiling of Tom Ford’s first collection for Gucci. Yet, beyond the glitz and the glamour of the celebrity world, Vimi reveals that she is most inspired by possessing the talent to completely change the outlook of the person undergoing a makeover. “When you see someone who initially sits on a make-up chair feeling sad, whose mind, mood and emotions are completely transformed through make-up and they leave feeling like the most beautiful woman in the world… that, to me, is priceless.”
