Unleash Your Creativity at Movelab!
‘Move to think and think to move’ – that’s the motto at a dance centre with a difference.
Founded in 2014, Movelab encourages adults and youngsters to invent and experiment with the art form rather than copying the steps of established genres such as ballet, tango or tap, activating the brain and the body at the same time.
Classes are suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to professionals, with workshops on choreography and performance offered to more advanced students.
The creative movement sessions aim to equip participants of any background to trust their bodies and ideas to invent methods that are unique to them, and are encouraged to investigate three fundamental dance concepts – body, space and time. All activities and exercises are intended to stimulate problem solving at the same time as improving key skills such as techniques such as coordination, alignment, balance, strength, flexibility and posture.
Movelab’s founder and director, Monica Antezana, said: “I firmly believe that creativity is at the centre of human intelligence. I've seen time and time again through my education and experience in the field of movement that it's possible to develop your creativity via your own movement – hence, develop your intelligence via your own dance – and it’s 100 per cent worth it!
“I created Movelab based on this principle. I look forward to sharing my passion for creative movement with you.”
Dubbed “a movement laboratory for creative dance experiments,” Movelab brings something new to a UAE market seemingly saturated by Zumba, salsa and cardio workouts.
Other courses and workshops are available on request, including those suitable for children aged four to six.
