UAE officially the biggest climber on the Henley Passport Index

The Henley Passport Index 2018 has just been released, and while Germany comes out on top globally, it's the UAE that's climbed the highest.

That's right, The UAE has climbed up an impressive 28 places on the index, the biggest climb of any country in the world over a decade reports Khaleej Times.

In the 2018 edition of the index, The UAE passport placed at number 33 globally, offering visa-free travel to 133 countries - up from 121 countries in 2017. The country has gained visa-free access to 12 new destinations in the past year alone!

The top five spots on the Henley Passport Index are as follows:

  1. Germany
  2. Singapore
  3. Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden, and the UK
  4. Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Spain
  5. USA, Ireland, Portugal and South Korea

In contrast, the countries taking up the five lowest ratings on the Henley Index are as follows:

  1. Somalia
  2. Pakistan
  3. Syria
  4. Iraq
  5. Afghanistan
