Last year’s event raised Dhs220,000 for charity; this year, donations will go to Doctors Without Borders and the UAE’s Red Crescent Society. There’s a competitive 1,600m swim and an 800m family-friendly category.

Wed 26 Feb-Sat 1 March
The second annual celebration of all things Peruvian will feature the country’s classic dishes, including ceviche (marinated raw fish), quinotto (a risotto made with quinoa instead of rice) and empanadas (a bit like a Cornish pasty). There’ll also be pisco, a traditional grape-based drink. Peruvian band Peru Andino will add to the South American atmosphere. INFO: Free, 6pm-11pm (weekdays), 3pm-12midnight
