Top 5 Things to Do in the UAE This Week
NEW! Catch an Al Fresco Flick Tue 25 Feb Calling all Brits! If you haven’t tried new Blighty-inspired restaurant Reform Social & Grill yet, now’s the perfect time. It’s launching movie screenings this week, which will see it show some of the best British films outside on the terrace, where you can relax on beanbags while snacking on freshly made popcorn! This week’s film is the Mod-tastic classic Quadrophenia, so make sure you scoot along. Reform also does an awesome British roast every weekend! Choices include beef or lamb and all the extras, including Yorkshire puddings, apple sauce and stuffing – it’s on offer every Saturday and Sunday for Dhs110. INFO: Film screenings free with purchase of food or drinks, 8pm, The Lakes, Dubai, 04 454 2638, www.reformsocialgrill.ae

Fri 21 Feb
Some 800 plucky swimmers are expected to get their goggles on for the annual Wild Wadi swim around Burj Al Arab. Last year’s event raised Dhs220,000 for charity; this year, donations will go to Doctors Without Borders and the UAE’s Red Crescent Society. There’s a competitive 1,600m swim and an 800m family-friendly category.
INFO: Registration closed, watch from 8am at Jumeirah Beach, near Burj Al Arab, Dubai

5. Try Peruvian Food
Wed 26 Feb-Sat 1 March
The second annual celebration of all things Peruvian will feature the country’s classic dishes, including ceviche (marinated raw fish), quinotto (a risotto made with quinoa instead of rice) and empanadas (a bit like a Cornish pasty). There’ll also be pisco, a traditional grape-based drink. Peruvian band Peru Andino will add to the South American atmosphere. INFO: Free, 6pm-11pm (weekdays), 3pm-12midnight
