With the opening of two more branches, this chain of nail salons and beauty spas now has 15 outlets covering no fewer than four Emirates.
Tell us about how you grew the business in 2012.
We launched a branch in Business Bay, which is also the first Dubai-based branch to offer hair services and body treatments. We also launched in Ras Al Khaimah, which extended the number of Emirates we operate in to four. However, the biggest achievement for me personally was the launch of our in-house training academy.
So staff are very important to you?
Vital. At Tips & Toes we like to create a family environment among our staff, with everybody encouraged to remain close-knit and supportive. I strongly believe that a happy employee environment reflects on the customers, who enjoy coming in to see our girls.
What are the challenges with customers from the UAE?
UAE consumers are very diverse, due to the international blend of nationalities and cultures. We try to stay sensitive to all cultural expectations.
How often do you have your nails done?
Every week. As much as this is a luxury, it’s also absolutely essential for me as a businesswoman to look groomed, along with representing my business.
What’s your favourite treatment?
I enjoy massages of all varieties. When I want to relax and rejuvenate, I opt for the traditional Balinese massage. When I feel I need to work out my tension, I go for the T’boli Rattan massage.
