Who doesn’t love a day at the races, eh? Fortunately, Meydan Racecourse is back with a set of nine adventurous races, where domestic horse-riders can compete every Thursday and Saturday. There are various tickets and packages to choose from, including the grandstand suites option which comes with a meal (an international bu et, we’ll have you know). If you were out of town during the festive season and missed the NYE celebrations, we’ve got some good news for you. The Burj Khalifa light show, which took place on Sun 31 Jan to ring in the New Year, will now continue until Sat 31 Mar. The LED show is spread out over an area of 109,000 square metres of the Burj Khalifa’s exterior. Fab! Looking at burning those festive love handles? Back with its third edition, the Palm Run is set to take place on Fri 19 Jan and will start and finish at Aquaventure waterpark. Every participant will get a medal, a T-shirt, a goody bag, and a free pass to Aquaventure, which can be used on the same day. Adults get to choose between 3km, 5km and 10km races, whereas children can take part in the 1km race. Just what we need in January! DANCE WITH ALICE IN HER WONDERLAND

Fancy watching a ballet performance with a twist? Dubai dance school The Ballet Centre is doing a special performance of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, mixing classical ballet with modern dance and even tap. There will be two performances on the day, and children below the age of three will sadly not be allowed in the theatre.
